Meet Our Team

Asiama Patrick Apiar (SAG) is the founding partner of the firm.

Patrick is a stalwart in the Ghanaian and International Law arena. Sam has over fifty (50) years experience in the legal field, beginning with a law degree from Kings College, London University (1961) Patrick was called to the English Bar at Inner Temple in 1963 and in the same year the Ghana Bar. In a long and illustrious career, Sam has picked up a few credentials for himself. Some of which are: Corporation of Secretaries (Final Certificate) 1958; Licentiate Membership, 1959; College of Europe, Diploma of Advance European Studies, 1963; Fellow Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators 1972; Notary Public,1975; Senior Advocate of Ghana (SAG), 1990; Member: Chartered Institute of Arbitration 1999. Patrick is a member of the International Bar Association and the Commonwealth lawyers Association. He is the Past President of the Ghana Bar Association and the President of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administration as well as the Association of Recognized Professional Bodies (Ghana).

Patrick was a member of the management board of the International Bar Association and was the Chairman of the Credentials Committee. In 2005 Patrick was honoured by the American Bar Association when he was elected as an International Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. The International Bar Association also honoured Sam as an Honorary Life Member of the Association.

Patrick is a Rotarian and served on Board of Rotary International, where he was the Chairman of the Executive Committee. Sam was also the Trustee Vice-Chair of the Rotary Foundation. Patrick has also served his Country in many capacities including membership of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1969 constitution. Sam also was a member of parliament from 1969-1972.

Patrick served as Chairman of the Ghana/Togo Border Demarcation Commission and he was the Chairman of the Accra Sports Stadium Disaster Commission. Patrick lectures Advocacy and Legal Ethics at the Ghana School of Law, Bars and Courts.

Eric A Mensah Senior Associate:

is extensive experience covers all facets of corporate and commercial practice and he has been intimately involved in leading ground-breaking transactions in Oil & Gas, Mining, cross border Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Markets. He has years of experience advising international companies working and investing in Ghana.

Mensah set up the first in-house legal department of Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited in 1985 and, following the merger with AngloGold Limited of South Africa, was appointed as Group General Counsel. He is a leading legal authority in Oil & Gas, Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions and Aviation, and he has received multiple recognitions over her career, including recognition as a Highly Regarded Lawyer in Oil and Gas, Banking and Capital Markets, Energy and Infrastructure, M&A, Project Development (IFLR1000).

He has served on a number of Boards including Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority; Ghana Air Transport Licensing Authority; Ghana Airways Limited; AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Ltd; First National Savings and Loans and the Merton Group. He was also a member of the Council of the Ghana Stock Exchange. He has an extensive network and is extremely highly regarded.

Mensah holds an LLB from the London School of Economics and Political Science (London University), a BL from the Ghana School of Law and an MBA from CEIBS. He is a member of the Bar of England and Wales, the Ghana Bar and the International Bar Association. Ghana Bar Association, International Bar Association, Member, Ghana Institute of Chartered Arbitrators Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants, Notary Public for Ghana.

Kwabena Sarfo-Mensah:

Sarfo-Mensah is a the Principal Advocate at Asiam Purity Chamber and has a wealth of experience and expertise in several practice areas including Banking & Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Minerals and Mining, Energy & Natural Resources and Payment Systems.

Sarfo-Mensah has advised several Major Ghanaian and international companies and investors on their commercial activities and investments in Ghana, including multi-million-dollar financing transactions, debt and corporate restructuring, regulatory and licensing matters, M &A and labor issues. He also leads the Firm’s Minerals and Mining Practice and Telecommunications and Technology Practice.

Sarfo-Mensah is the recipient of several accolades, including his ranking as a Highly Regarded Lawyer in Banking, Project Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions and ranking as Leading Male Lawyer by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR 1000). He has been praised by clients for being meticulous, reliable and knowledgeable.

Sarfo-Mensah holds an LLB from the University of Essex and an LLM in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Ghana Bar. He is also a member of the International Bar Association.

B. Apea Osafo is a Partner at Asiam Purity Chamber and works primarily within the Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, Oil and Gas and Tax practice areas. He was part of the team advising the Government of Ghana on its Eurobond issues in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. She also took a leading role advising a leading international oil and gas company on tax matters in relation to its petroleum agreement negotiations with the Government and implications of the Petroleum Revenue Management laws on its business.

He is dual-qualified at the Ghana Bar and as a solicitor of England and Wales with extensive international transactional and legal experience gained in the UK, Japan, Ghana and across the Russian, Central Asian and Asian emerging economies. He approaches her transactions with deep industry insight drawn from his in-house corporate counsel role at ING Bank N.V and associate training at leading global firm, Clifford Chance LLP.  Apea is recognised as a rising star, Banking & Capital Markets (IFLR1000).

B. Apea Osafo holds a LLB (Hons) Business and Finance Law degree from the Brunel University, Uxbridge, England. He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and is also called to the Ghana Bar.

Francis A. Adiasani :

Aaw holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Ghana and obtained her Barrister at Law (BL) and Solicitors Certificate from the Ghana School of Law in 2002.

Aaw is a notary public, has extensive experience in the conduct of litigation and is over 17 years at the bar. He specializes in Company Law, Land Law, Family Law, Banking and Finance Law, Commercial Litigation, Property Acquisition, Dispute Resolution and Criminal Law.

Since joining the B&P Team, Maame has expanded her horizon in Corporate and Commercial Transactions, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Regulatory Compliance and Insolvency.

He has provided advisory services to a myriad of top-notch clients on a range of employment matters as well as regulatory compliance and very proficient in drafting and reviewing associated agreements. Maame brings on board valuable experience with her skilled representation of clients in challenging disputes across the Firm’s practice areas. He has advised and represented the Firm’s key clients in complex negotiations.

Asu formed part of the core team of the Firm to produce major publications, one of which is the Oxford Business Group’s Report: Ghana 2022 – Legal Chapter, which focused on fundamental laws and policies in Ghana that are key to investors.
